Autumn Lighting Portrait Study

First piece in April ’17
An experiment with light, shape and texture on this one. I’m still wrestling with the square format, but filling it with beauty comes easier to me these days.

One important thing in this study was to get a more stylized approach to portraiture and also get better with hard and soft edges. Still not there yet, but I’m learning a thing or two with each new piece wink

Apart from playing with texture and the bold hair shape, I explored some lighting effects to change the mood of the painting towards a late afternoon. The colors complete the impression that it could be a sunny autumn day.

Painting process and mid-res version for Patrons at the beginning of May, …aaaand Patrons see it first ;)
